Shared Link not working & other crazy things

Hey there

Mac Os iMac / Rive 0.8.1515

Not sure what is going on, Rive has been the bane of my existence today, anything and everything has been randomly going on.

  1. There are pins in the file, when you roll over them they reveal a name, They are have all been built the same way. BUT only some of them work and other go into a loop or run the cycle and not hold where Ive told it to.

  2. When I export the file to a shared link only Ontario and Quebec work, but in the Rive app all the provinces work.

I am a loss I need some fresh eyes on this, any help will be appreciated. This is my very first Rive project, so I'm sure there is a better way for me to do what I have done here. but I'm in it now, I just need to deliver this asap.

Here is the shared link

thanks

I'll take a look!

Hey, so I took a look at your file. One reason you're having some issues is you're targeting a group for a lot of your listeners instead of a shape. I would recommend retargeting all of your listeners to target a single shape. So in the case of the map, with the province selections, select the actual shape within the group as your listener target, not the group itself. I would also recommend using a rectangle or a simple shape for the listener targets within the pin artboards (and not targeting the "pin" group, but a solid shape instead). There are some organizational things that can be done as well, but would take a bit of rework. If you want some ideas, I can record a video and show you some things you might do differently when approaching a larger project like this with reusable components.

Hey Thanks you so much for looking at this for me, I'm going to try this out and see if it sorts out my problems.

AND YES PLEASE, I'd love a video on how I can improve this, Like I said this is my firts project and I'm sure there is a way more efficient way of building this so if you have any thougths on this matter I'd love to here them.

Thank you

Paul

Hey Ive gone through and re-targeted each province using the Custom Shape of each province and also used a Hit Box for each drop pin / name.

BUT, I'm still experiencing the same issues.

  1. Sharing the link, only Ontario and Quebec work

  2. A lot of the pin still run though the sequence instead of holding on the name when the mouse sits there.

  3. I also noticed that on some of the pins, when clicked, it closes the map instead of opening the info block, and then when you reopen the province, it then opens the info block.

Its so weird, things that worked last week now don't work.

Ive attached an updated file.

it seems no matter what change I make, the end result is the same, when I export to a shared link.

I tried something different this morning, I tested this out on a new machine and got a completely new result.

The pins that were ignoring the listeners and cycling through and not working now on the new machine do not work at all. If I'm getting 2 different results on 2 different machines, is this not a app issue?
